SECURE SCOTLAND RESPONSE TO THE SUPREME COURT RULING
It is still early days for us all in considering the impact of the Supreme Court Ruling on gender recognition. Meanwhile the Equalities Act offers only the beginning of a detailed and compassionate framework for full and inclusive equality. We hope this will not create further divisions in how this is interpreted, We hope that our government and the public bodies in Scotland will be able to to uphold protections against discrimination and harassment for a group that is facing such misrepresentation and marginalisation in our culture.

Tuesday 6th May at 7.00pm

This will be the first Fellowship of Reconciliation at WandA presence, and Secure Scotland, along with P & J, is co-hosting. On a recent visit to Stirling university with the Security! board game, we met up with the Citizens Rights Project and learned a bit about how they work with European Scots, and the importance of translating information.. We hope to organise a joint event with them at some point later this year, but meantime this conference sounds like a valuable initiative. Tickets on Eventbrite and their website is here: https://citizensrightsproject.org/

Some additional dates of interest are from STW, Engender, and Scottish CND.

In the next Secure Scotland alert, there will be news from the Scots who went to Lakenheath to say NO to the US

Secure Scotland’s exploration of the real meaning of security in our next exhibition is about extending the concept of security and welfare beyond the human-centred. We are actively seeking submissions.

In “The Age of Insecurity” Astra Taylor points out that the wreckage we are making of the climate and the ecosystems arises from an exclusive concentration on human security without regard for the rest of reality. And, of course, an exclusively human-centred approach to security is chain-sawing the branch on which we precariously perch.

We are looking for exhibits that both illustrate and advocate the essential step away of anthropocentrism. They may be verbal, visual or three-dimensional.

The exhibition will be primarily wall mounted there is a large TV as well as white walls, and poetry or other spoken work contributions can be performed.

We are actively seeking submissions. Visit, email secretary@securescotland.scot or call Janet 07795594573 or David 07876593016

Thank you to those who responded so far to the Fundraising Appeal, Please consider if you can join the folks who are helping with regular monthly payments, which give stability. If we had 200 individuals or groups with a standing order for £10 a month we’d be able to plan and budget for months at a time. Find details on the donate page of the website.
